Legacy Theatre is a non-profit producing professional regional theatre located in an historic theatre in the quaint village of Stony Creek, which is in the shoreline town of Branford, CT. Part-Time Box Office Associate

The part-time, year-round Box Office Associate will be responsible for covering weekly (and weekend) Box Office shifts, working with the Box Office Manager and House Managers to ensure the Box Office and customer relations for the theatre run smoothly, maintaining inventory of front-of-house supplies, and providing additional support in other areas when needed.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Be present in the Box Office during all shows and theatre events to check in guests, sell walk-in tickets, assist patrons with any ticket order issues, and provide support for general FOH needs. 

  • Assist Patrons over the phone or in person in purchasing tickets, answering questions, and providing information about the theatre and upcoming events. 

  • Make calls to groups/organizations for group sales opportunities outside of show periods. 

  • Monitor merchandise, concessions, and print material stock inventory and alert BO Manager when new orders need to be placed. 

  • Run errands as needed (i.e., picking up materials for production, dropping off sponsorship flyers at a business, etc.). 

  • Maintain a high level of Customer Service to Legacy Theatre Patrons. 

Qualifications: 

· 2-3 years of customer service experience 

· Highly organized and detail-oriented 

· Available nights and weekends, (Thurs-Sun) 

· Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with efficiency and poise 

· Ability to work well with others, as well as independently 

· Strong communication and organizational skills 

· Have a sense of humor, and an interest in theater. 

· Prior experience with ticketing services or POS software a plus! 

Additional Information: 

· All Legacy Theatre staff members must be fully vaccinated, and proof of vaccination is required prior to the start of work. 

· Weekly hours will include evenings and weekends and must be available on Saturdays and Sundays. 

Hours and Compensation: This is a part-time, year-long position, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (hours worked outside of this availability will be discussed with supervisor ahead of scheduling).  15-20 hours per week and pays $17.50 hourly.

Props Designer

Hired on a per-production basis, applications are always welcome! A stipend will be offered.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Attend Production Meetings and Tech Rehearsals and at least one run-through of the production before tech. 

  • Create a properties list based on the script and discussions with the director. 

  • Obtain and deliver rehearsal props for the start of rehearsals. 

  • Will have access to Theatre’s prop storage. 

  • Responsible for obtaining/creating/building all Props needed for the production. 

  • Will report to the Production Manager on production deadlines and budget tracking.  

  • May be responsible for dressing the set or assisting the Resident Scenic Designer in finding/purchasing/renting/alerting furniture pieces used on the set.  

  • Availability during the rehearsal process and performances for delivery of final props, maintenance, and repairs of props, if needed.

Wardrobe Assistant

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Costume Designer with research, procurement, and creation of costumes.

  • Assist with all wardrobe-related activities during load-in/load-out, tech, previews, and performances of the production.

  • Maintain costumes through repairs, sewing, laundry, and dry cleaning.

  • Maintain hair accessories/wigs; make alterations and repairs when necessary.

  • Maintain clean and safe dressing rooms and quick-change areas.

  • Run the wardrobe track during the run of the show.

  • Attend appropriate technical rehearsals, previews, and production meetings.

Stage Crew/Runner

Hired on a per-production basis, applications always welcome!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete Pre-Show and Post-Show tasks as delegated by the Production Manager and Stage Manager.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment onstage and backstage.

  • Monitor actor tracks backstage to make sure things are running smoothly.

  • Complete Run Crew tasks during the performance, which may include: assisting the Wardrobe Supervisor with quick changes, prop and costume piece hand-offs, moving set pieces, and manual fly rigs.

  • Participate in load-in, strike, and run crew for produced and presented shows as assigned.

  • Attend appropriate technical rehearsals, previews, and production meetings.

  • May also be asked to assist other technical departments as necessary during load-ins, load-outs, and run of show.

Front of House Manager Alternate (HMA)

Reports to Front of House Manager
Hired on a rolling basis and paid on a per shift basis, applications always welcome!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as house manager for select performances

  • Maintain all outdoor signage/cones for the theatre each night (set-up and take-down)

  • Maintain a welcoming environment for our patrons, volunteers, staff, cast, and crew. "When you're smilin', when you're smilin'; The whole world smiles with you."

  • Be proficient with technology:

    • Laptop/Computer for Tix.com (our ticket and scan dashboard); Merchandise Sales

    • Cellphone for the TixScan app

  • Ensure the house is ready for the show (auxiliary seats in place, etc.)

  • Assign tasks for volunteers (typically 1 to 4 per show.) Conduct pre-show briefing

  • Welcome patrons!

  • Maintain communication (via headset) with Production Stage Manager to open/close house

  • Oversee (replenish as needed) and sell concessions

  • Provide box office support, on an exception basis, using the Tix.com system

  • Give the audience a “welcome” speech (this is optional)

  • Update Front of House Manager, Theatre Manager, and Managing Director of any FOH facilities or maintenance issues, including the need for supplies or re-ordering of concessions

  • Along with volunteers, thank patrons for coming at the conclusion of the show (as they are leaving)

  • Ensure the house is clear of significant debris after the audience departs

  • Follow guidance and instruction regarding all COVID safety protocols

  • Be a Legacy Theatre "ambassador" with members of the Stony Creek community

  • Be able to; lift 25 lbs; walk up/down a flight of stairs
